BOURBON MAPLE COLD BREW COCKTAIL
Ingredients
Instructions
- Pour 1 tablespoon of organic dark amber maple syrup onto a small plate and spread out the syrup (as wide as the rim of your glass). On a separate small plate, add about 2 teaspoons Demerara sugar (or Turbinado sugar) and spread out on the plate. Dip the rim of an 8 ounce martini glass into the maple syrup to coat the rim. Then dip the rim into the Demerara sugar and coat completely. Set glass aside.
- Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice cubes, add 2 ounces strong cold brew coffee (see Note #1), 2 ounces bourbon whiskey (see Note #2), ¾ ounce organic dark amber maple syrup, and ¾ ounce coffee liqueur, and shake vigorously (at least 15 seconds).
- Strain into the prepared martini glass, and enjoy!
Notes
- If you don’t have cold brew on hand, you can substitute either extra strong coffee (regular or decaf both work well) and chill it, or use diluted espresso. To quick chill coffee, place a small cup of freshly brewed coffee into the freezer for 25 minutes. If making diluted espresso, add 2 small ice cubes (or 1 large) to a small measuring cup, and pour a single shot of hot espresso (about 1.3 ounces) over the ice. Swirl until it has cooled and ice has melted. Remember, you will need only 2 ounces.
- For this cocktail, I love this brand of small batch bourbon whiskey (Filmland Spirits Inc. Moonlight Mayhem! Bourbon).

Step by Step Instructions
Sugar Rim
STEP 1
Pour 1 tablespoon of organic dark amber maple syrup onto a small plate, and spread out the syrup (as wide as the rim of your glass). On a separate small plate, add about 2 tablespoons demerara sugar (or turbinado sugar - see Note below) and spread out on the plate. Dip the rim of an 8 ounce martini glass into the maple syrup to coat the rim. Then dip the rim into the demerara sugar and coat completely. Set martini glass aside.
Note: It may seem like a lot of sugar, but using 2 tablespoons of demerara sugar on a plate makes it easier to coat the rim of the glass. Only about ½ teaspoon actually gets coated on the glass rim.
Cocktail
STEP 2
Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice cubes, add 2 ounces strong cold brew coffee (see Note below), 2 ounces bourbon whiskey, ¾ ounce organic dark amber maple syrup, and ¾ ounce coffee liqueur.
Note: If you don’t have cold brew on hand, you can substitute either extra strong coffee (regular or decaf both work well) and chill it. To quick chill coffee, place a small cup of freshly brewed coffee into the freezer for about 20-25 minutes. Or you can use diluted espresso instead (my favorite way to make this cocktail). To make diluted espresso, add 2 small ice cubes (or 1 large) to a small measuring cup, and pour a single shot of hot espresso (about 1.3 ounces) over the ice. Swirl until it has cooled and ice has melted. Remember, you will need only 2 ounces.
STEP 3
Cover and shake vigorously (at least 15 seconds). Strain into the prepared martini glass.

How to Make the Best Bourbon Maple Cold Brew Cocktail!
Blog Comments & Tips
Best ever dessert cocktail!
This amazing Bourbon Maple Cold Brew Cocktail is pretty much the best dessert cocktail I’ve ever enjoyed! If you are a coffee lover and one who enjoys bourbon, then this might become your favorite libation. A quick thanks to my former co-founder, Leigh, who developed and shared this wonderful recipe - it’s truly a winner!
This sweet dessert cocktail recipe has only 5 ingredients. The perfect formula for this dessert cocktail starts with a demerara sugar rim, which crowns a beautiful martini glass, and a cocktail shaker filled with ice, bourbon, cold brew coffee, pure maple syrup, and coffee liquor. To get a nice froth, this cocktail must be shaken vigorously for at least 15 seconds (which also makes it a good arm workout!).
The key ingredients in this cold brew cocktail recipe are the cold brew and the bourbon. Use your favorite strong cold brew coffee. For an even stronger coffee flavor profile, try my favorite version with diluted espresso (see details in the Pimp My Recipe section below). The next and probably most important ingredient, is a great quality bourbon.
I prefer using this brand of award winning small batch bourbon whiskey (Filmland Spirits Inc. Moonlight Mayhem! Bourbon) for this recipe.
This small batch bourbon is not only of wonderful quality, but the label is so creative and colorful. If you are entertaining for Halloween, it’s absolutely perfect for setting up your bar. Don’t be surprised if it becomes a conversation starter!
How do you ensure the best results from this recipe?
My 4 tips to making the perfect Bourbon Maple Cold Brew Cocktail:
High quality ingredients, especially when it comes to the bourbon and pure maple syrup. I highly recommend using Filmland Spirits Inc. Moonlight Mayhem! Bourbon, and Shady Maple Farms organic dark amber maple syrup.
Make your own homemade cold brew (recipe coming soon!), or use your favorite brand of strong cold brew coffee.
Shake vigorously for at least 15 second, but no more than 30 seconds, otherwise the cocktail will get watered down. You just want to achieve a nice foam and to combine the ingredients.
Don’t skip the sugar rim. Although it’s visually appealing, it also adds to the sweetness of this dessert cocktail when you take each sip.
It’s time to customize and Pimp My Recipe.
Pimp My Recipe:
Make it Stronger: This cocktail has plenty of alcohol. However, if you like a stronger coffee flavor like me, then I suggest using diluted espresso, in place of the cold brew. To make diluted espresso, just add 2 small ice cubes (or 1 large) to a small measuring cup, and pour a single shot of hot extra strong espresso (about 1.3 ounces) directly over the ice. Swirl until it has cooled and ice has melted. Remember, you will need only 2 ounces.
Don’t have demerara sugar on hand? For the sugar rim, just replace demerara sugar with turbinado sugar.
Make it Less Sweet: Although I highly recommend the sugar rim to get the full effect of this dessert cocktail, you can always skip it. If it’s still too sweet, then reduce the maple syrup in the cocktail to only ½ ounce.
