POMEGRANATE LEMON SPRITZER (Non-Alcoholic)
Ingredients
Instructions
- With a juicer, squeeze 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice. To a tall beverage glass (16 to 18 ounce), add lemon juice, Pomegranate juice, and agave nectar, and with a long mixing spoon, stir well to combine.
- Add a little sparkling water to the glass (about 1-2 ounces) and stir until agave (or sweetener) has completely dissolved into the liquid.
- Fill the glass half full with ice cubes, top off with remaining 6-7 ounces of sparkling water, and stir to combine.
- Drop in a fresh or frozen lemon slice, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
- If you prefer a more tart drink, use only ½ teaspoon of agave nectar, or eliminate the sweetener all together. If you don't have agave nectar, replace with 1 ½ tsp. superfine sugar. For the skinny version of this recipe, replace agave with 1 packet Truvia, or 1 tsp. stevia.
- For a special touch and to avoid diluting your drink, use lemonade ice cubes as a replacement for regular ice cubes in this beverage.
- Use a frozen lemon slice, which will help keep your drink extra cold. Check out our Tips & Tricks page to learn how to freeze citrus fruit.
- Recipe can be made ahead of time and for a crowd. Just combine agave syrup (or sweetener), pomegranate juice, and lemon juice in the bottom of a pitcher. Add 1 ounce of water (filtered, non-carbonated water) per serving, stir well, cover and refrigerate. When ready to serve, just stir well and pour equal amounts into glasses, add ice, and top off with sparkling water.

This is a bright and beautiful sparkling soda!
This Pomegranate Lemon Spritzer is a lighter and fresher option to traditional Italian sodas. If you have never tried an Italian soda, they are quite delicious, but full of sugary syrup. Our clean eating (in this case, clean drinking) recipe, replaces the syrup with natural juices and agave nectar.
If you have been following us for a while, you will notice that many of our drink recipes (and even some of our food recipes) often replace refined sugar with agave nectar and sometimes honey. You’ve also likely read that agave has a low-glycemic index compared to sugar or honey, which is why we tend to use it in many of our recipes. It tends to add a warmer and almost caramel-like flavor to our drink and food recipes. Besides the great taste, one of the benefits of agave is that it helps reduce the effects of blood sugar and insulin spikes in your body when consuming. You don’t need much to sweeten your drink, so use it sparingly.
Another reason to consume this beverage often is that pomegranate juice is full of antioxidants, vitamin C, and even has anti-inflammatory properties. Aside from being refreshing and tasty, it’s good for you! Take a look at our 4 tips for making this spritzer.
Our 4 tips to making this beautiful Pomegranate Lemon Spritzer:
To avoid diluting your drink and to add a special touch, use lemonade ice cubes as a replacement for regular ice cubes. Just make extra lemonade in advance by using flat filtered water and lemon, then pour into an ice cube tray and freeze.
Another trick is to use frozen lemon slices, which will help keep your drink extra cold. Take a look at our quick how to video for (TIP #2 - How to Freeze Lemons) on our Tips & Tricks page for details.
Chill your sparkling water in the refrigerator.
Make ahead recipe for a crowd: Just combine pomegranate juice, lemon juice, and agave nectar in the bottom of a pitcher, add 1 ounce of filtered, non-carbonated water per serving, stir well, cover, and refrigerate. When ready to serve, just stir well, and pour equal amounts into glasses, add ice, and top off with sparkling water.
Although we love this recipe as is, we also like this spritzer in its natural juice state, as well as all the variations below. Try our other versions and let us know which one you like best! This non-alcoholic drink is super refreshing and slightly tart. If you like a sweeter, or even cleaner version of this fizzy little drink, take a look at our Pimp Our Recipe tips below for more suggestions.
Pimp Our Recipe:
Make it Sweeter: Just add more agave nectar, but only ½ teaspoon at a time.
Make it Less Sweet: Omit the agave or sweetener all together and go “au naturel!”
Make it Simply Pomegranate: This one is a no-brainer - omit the lemon juice and agave nectar and just use 1/4 cup pomegranate juice and sparkling water.
Make it a Boozy Spritzer: Reduce the amount of sparkling water by half (so use only 4 oz. sparkling water) and add 2 ounces of vodka.
Make it Skinny: In place of agave nectar, use Truvia or stevia, which would make this drink only 37 calories per serving.
We hope you enjoy this fizzy little beverage and will make it as often as we do. Please let us know what you think by commenting, rating our recipes, liking, and following us on Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook.
