How to Make this Delicious Wild Blueberry Smoothie!
Blog Comments & Tips
A great way to start your day!
What makes this Blueberry Boost Matcha Smoothie recipe truly special is the use of wild blueberries and matcha powder. Wild blueberries are small but mighty powerhouses that offer a concentrated dose of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. These little gems infuse the smoothie with a distinctive flavor profile, ensuring every sip is a celebration of nature's bounty.
Whether you like the flavor of matcha or not, it does offer some great effects on the body. Matcha gives you that boost of energy without the jitters, but combining matcha and wild blueberries creates a delicious drink to start your day. If you don’t like the taste of matcha, give it a try anyway. It’s not the prominent flavor in this recipe, so you might enjoy the flavor of this smoothie!
My Blueberry Boost Matcha Smoothie offers a range of health benefits due to its nutrient-rich ingredients.
Here is an overview of the advantages:
Antioxidant Boost: Wild blueberries, matcha powder, and cinnamon are all potent sources of antioxidants. Did you know that frozen wild blueberries have twice the amount of antioxidants than regular blueberries?!
Digestive Health: The fiber content of wild blueberries and the probiotics in Greek yogurt contribute to a healthy gut microbiome which aids digestion.
Joint and Skin Support: Although collagen powder is optional in this recipe, it’s a great way to promote joint health and improve skin elasticity. It can also support hair and nail health, making this smoothie beneficial for overall skin and connective tissue wellness.
Bone Health: The calcium in Greek yogurt supports bone health. Collagen also contains essential amino acids that contribute to bone strength and density, supporting overall bone health.
Energy and Alertness: Matcha powder provides a sustained release of energy due to its combination of caffeine and L-theanine. This can help enhance focus and concentration while avoiding the crash associated with some other energy sources, like regular coffee or energy drinks.
Stress Reduction: Although Matcha powder can boost your energy, it also contains L-theanine, an amino acid known for its calming effects, which can help reduce stress and promote relaxation.
Immune Support: The vitamins and minerals in wild blueberries, along with the probiotics in Greek yogurt, can help strengthen the immune system and enhance its ability to defend against infections.
Blood Sugar Regulation: Cinnamon has been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels.
Whether you're looking for a revitalizing breakfast or a rejuvenating snack, this Blueberry Boost Matcha Smoothie is the perfect drink. So blend up a glass of wellness, and let the nutrients nourish your body and soul.
How do you ensure the best results from this recipe?
My 4 tips to making this delicious Blueberry Boost Matcha Smoothie:
Use high quality ingredients in this smoothie recipe. For the most important ingredient in this recipe, I always use Wyman’s frozen wild blueberries.
If you are adding matcha, I recommend this organic matcha powder. If you want to up your game and use a ceremonial quality matcha, try this organic ceremonial barista matcha powder.
Use frozen fruit for this recipe. If you use fresh blueberries, it will become too watery.
For best results, use a high speed blender. Both the NutriBullet high speed blender and the Vitamix high-speed blender work extremely well for this recipe.
It’s time to customize and Pimp My Recipe.
Pimp My Recipe:
Make it with Less Vanilla: For a stronger blueberry and matcha flavor, you can cut the pure vanilla extract in half. Just use only ¼ teaspoon of pure vanilla extract instead.
Make it Dairy Free & Vegan: Replace the Greek yogurt with your favorite non-dairy yogurt. For a vegan version, I like using Kite Hill Greek-style plain yogurt for this recipe.
Don’t Like Matcha? This is an easy adjustment…just omit the matcha from the recipe! You will still get that natural boost of energy from all the other wonderful ingredients in this smoothie.
Make it Even Creamier: Add ¼ frozen banana to this recipe. It will add a banana flavor, but it will make it even smoother and creamier!
Make it With Regular Blueberries: Of course you can replace the wild blueberries with the same amount (1 cup) of regular blueberries. Just make sure they are frozen. It will be just as delicious!
